I Can Invisible Myself

This song started life as one of Jo’s poems called ‘Invisible’. It's about an experience Jo had whilst sheltering under the trees on Wenlock Edge near her home in Shropshire during a snow blizzard. Jo swaps rolls with Rick to play the rhythm here on an old, smashed-up gato box which had an interesting sound, whilst Rick uses the Hungarian zither in a unique way, stopping the sustain with a clothed arm as accompaniment.

Lyrics

If I make myself very small
Crouch down low hold my knees tightly
Crush my chest flat and lean
Soft at first, then press into the deep loam
Hug tree roots and badger scent
I can invisible myself

Disappear entirely into the earth
Deer pass by me grazing so close
I can feel their breath warm on my body
I hide and wait as single flakes of snow fall
I can invisible myself, I can invisible myself

They hover still in the air, poised in time
Each one a tiny universe of
Perfect symmetry, waiting in silence
Holding their space like diamonds
Glistening before my eyes
I can invisible myself, I can invisible myself
I can invisible myself

I’m so still, I make sound
No mark, no shadow existing only in energy
No body to hold me, one with everything
It feels so good, I can invisible myself
I can invisible myself, I can invisible myself
I can invisible myself
